East Coast Shooting Club

Will all members please note that we are hosting a major National level Competition on our range this Sunday. This means that the firing points for Rifle and Pistol will be very busy all day. I do realise that this may be inconvenient but this is the only NASRPC event that we will be hosting this year. There are many different Rifle and Pistol competitions on offer so any urge you have to shoot on Sunday will be satisfied by entering one or more.

February 2012 - NASRPC National Competition

The National Association of Sporting Rifle & Pistol Clubs will hold a National Competition in East Coast Shooting Club on Sunday 19th February 2012

Braving the worst weather this year yet the hardy faithful club pistol shooters turned up last Sunday to compete once again in the monthly Pistol Competition at the Club. This competiton has been introduced recently to provide regular pistol shooitng events for club members. Rimfire and centrefire shooters are welcome as the course of fire and targets are intended to be useable across all ranges of calibres. The competitions are planned to be conducted on the last Sunday of each month to facilitate ease of planning for all. The inaugural shoot was on Sunday 27th November 2011, the Christmas shoot displaced the December competition at the end of the year and the first event of 2012 was held as planned on 29th January 2012. The next shoot will be held on Sunday 26th February 2012. Simples!!

Sunday 27th November saw the first club pistol shoot of the new club year. Our new Pistol section leader, Paul, introduced a new format consisting of a number of  shots at 10 Metres, single handed, 5 using the right hand and 5 using the left. The targets were then moved to 15 Metres and more strings were fired single handed, against the clock, using each hand in turn. The new format levelled the playing field and new names have appeared at the top of the score sheet. Well done to all attendees. Remember that the club will run a pistol competition on the last Sunday of each month.

The AGM for 2010 took place in the Castle Inn, Newcastle, Co. Wicklow on Wed. 26th of October. A good selection of members turned up to hear about the progress made during the last year and the plans for next year. Reports on finance, membership, safety and the various shooting disciplines were given by the committee members responsible. A new committee was elected which will be circulated to the members by e-mail.
